Zalmen Mlotek  Biography

Zalmen Mlotek, one of the world’s leading figures in Yiddish folk, theater and choral music, is co-artistic director of the Folksbiene Yiddish Theater, the longest continuously operating Yiddish theater company in the world. An innovative force in bringing contemporary musical theater pieces about the Jewish-American experience to Broadway, Mlotek was the co-creator and music director of Those Were The Days, which received two Tony nominations and a Drama Desk award, and The Golden Land, an Off-Broadway hit which toured internationally. Mlotek is the conductor of the Workmen’s Circle Chorus, The New Yiddish Chorale and the Rottenberg Chorale.
