Yakov Alperin was an actor, songwriter and sketch director. Born October 28, 1921 in Botosani (Romania).
In 1941 he was deported to a labor camp in Bessarabian Edinet. After liberation in 1944 he returned to Botosani and went to work in the local theater. In 1945 he moved to Bucharest, where he played at the local Jewish theater, in 1948 received the status of state. In 1961 he immigrated to Israel and played in the theater Shimon Jigana, with whom he toured successfully in Western Europe, South America and South Africa. Since 1979, with a group of Israeli actors of the Jewish theater (Miri Sorianu, Ino Toper, etc.), he performed in the United States. In 1986 he returned to Israel, where a year later he became one of the founders of the Tel Aviv Theater “Yiddishpil”, which he worked until his death.
Laureate of various Romanian, American and Israeli theater awards, including the prize of the Association of Artists in Israel for his contribution to Jewish culture.
Jacob Alperin died on December 9, 2012 and was buried in the cemetery in Houlone (Israel).
