Joseph Brody passed away in 1937 at the age of 60.
He was a self-taught muscal composer for the Yiddish Theater for over 30 years. He was also prolific in his composition of Hebrew Liturgical music.
During his career he worked with most of the greats of the Yiddish Theater. This included David Kessler, Sigmund Mogulesko, Maurice Schwartz, Bertha Kallish and many, many others. During his time on the so-called “Yiddish Rialto” (New York’s East Side) he composed the music for well over 100 plays and musicals. His Liturgical music was performed in every Synagogue through out the United States by such Cantors as Rosenblatt, Quartin, Breeh, Schlisky and Meisels. His most famous Liturgical piece is Mizmor L’ David (the 23rd Psalm).
Copies of most of his published music can be found in the Lincoln Center Music Museum and the New York City Museum, Music Dept.

Are there any movies or photos of max kletter? His wife’s sister was my stepmother, so I’m interested in seeing them and sharing them with his wife’s daughter.
The article says Sheb recorded his last song just 4 days before he died, but does not tell us the name of it. I be curious what it was. I’d like to hear it.
