An Israel Prize Laureate in Hebrew song Argov was born in Moscow in 1914.
Argov was born in Moscow, started composing at 5 and beganhis formal musical training at 6. He immigrated to Palestine with his parents in 1934, and met director Gershon Plotkin, who got him to volunteer to write the music for various performances for the kibbutz movement.
Argov was also known as Alexander Abramovitch.
He died September 28, 1995 in Tel Aviv at 81.
