Gloria Levy’s parents, from Alexandria, Egypt, and Izmir, Turkey—both Judeo-Spanish speakers—moved to New York City, where Gloria was born.
Gloria learned the songs on this recording from her mother, who also provides the mandolin and tambourine accompaniments, while Gloria sings and artfully plays the guitar. Most of the songs are love songs sung in Judeo-Spanish.

1 thought on “Gloria Levy”
I remember when you and I were young and spending the summer as counselors in Becket MA at Camp Tamarack. Manny Kirscheimer fell for you and you eventually married him. I know that he died recently…but how are you doing? I’m very old now and remembering that long ago time. Your recording of JudeoSpanish songs is beautiful. Also your published novels. I’m hoping you will contact me to reminisce about life’s journey. Affectionally yours, Frances Schaeffer Citrin (203)2093993.
