Vocalist & clarinetist, has toured the United States and Russia performing Yiddish Theater and folksongs, rarely heard Sephardic romanzas, jazz and klezmer. Sheila's innovative CD collaboration, "Our Songs, Nuestras Kantikas, Undzere Lider" has aired on NPR. (Hear it at www.kosherredhots.com) Sheila is the recipient of a 2007 Washington State Arts Commission Folk Arts Fellowship Award. Her passion and commitment make her an excellent cultural educator.
Her interactive workshops include public school educators and organizations such as Seattle's Middle East Peace Camp for Children. Sheila studies Judeo-Spanish in Seattle with local native speakers. Her commitment to the preservation of Sephardic music stems from her upbringing in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with its' Crypto-Judaic environment.
She has worked with Yiddish Theater Greats, Zalmen Mlotek, Adrienne Cooper and Clare Barry (Barry Sisters). Sheila performs in several languages.
