Eisner's Klezmorim plays traditional klezmer music that really rocks.
Led by Judith Eisner on violin, the band has a big Old World sound of accordion, clarinet, fiddle and double bass. Added to this mix is the distinctly Eastern European sound of the Tsimbl, or Cymbolim, a Hungarian hammered dulcimer. Often a Ukrainian / Greek mandolin joins in, and the band creates a wild acoustic experience of an old world wedding.
Judith Eisner, violin, is the founding member. She received a B.S. from the University of Connecticut, studied at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, the Institute for Advanced Musical Studies (Switzerland), KlezKanada (Montreal) and the Boston Symphony Tanglewood Institute.
Presently she leads Eisner's Klezmorim, a band specializing in traditional Yiddish music.
A faculty member at MacPhail Center for Music since 1986, Judith teaches the New Horizons String Orchestra for adult beginners. She also teaches privately in her home.
