Miss Muro studied in Madrid, with Toti dal Monte in Venice and at the Hochschule fur Musik in Munich, West Germany, has an attractive voice and used it well in this recital. The tone was even throughout the range, and ornaments and melismas were dispatched fluently.

Vocal coloration did not figure prominently, however, in Miss Muro’s interpretations, which meant that her performances were less richly textured than they might have been. Still, she made quite a bit of the liveliness of the Garcia Lorca songs and delivered the more melismatic Sephardic songs tellingly. In any case, her singing was always, at the very least, pretty and tasteful. Allen Hughes
