Yakov Leuzerovich is a writer, songwriter. Born November 2, 1891 in Brest-Litovsk (Grodno province of the Russian Empire, now Belarus). The father is a magician.
He studied in heder. In 1908 he entered the School of Painting in Vilna, but soon left for Odessa, where until 1912 he studied at an art school, which he graduated from external studies. For a short time he lived in Warsaw, where he emigrated to the United States in the summer of 1913. In 1915-1919 he was the director of the school for orphans. Later he taught at the Sholom Aleichem school, was the secretary of the Sholom Aleichem People’s Institute in New York. In 1930-1955 he worked as a compositor and editor in the newspaper Freiheit. Since 1910, he was published under the pseudonyms “Yankele Brisker”, “Zeyde Yakov” and others.
Yakov Leizerovich died on April 1, 1967 in New York (USA).
