Moshe Rappaport – cellist, composer, teacher. He was born on January 9, 1903 in Czestochowa (Petrokovskaya guberniya of the Russian Empire, now Poland).
He graduated from the Hebrew school and Polish gymnasium. Since 1914 he studied at the Vienna Conservatoire in cello classes (Professor Paul Grümmer) and composition (Professor Josef Mark). In 1924-1932 he was the first cello of the Orchestra of the Opera Theater in Katowice and a teacher at the local conservatory. In 1933 he immigrated to Palestine. Since 1934 he played in the Tel Aviv Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Michael Taube. Since 1936 he taught in Jerusalem, and also wrote music for dramatic plays. In the 1940s he returned to teaching work in Tel Aviv. He was the first cello of the orchestra of the opera theater under Mordechai Golinkin.
Moshe Rappaport died on November 16, 1968 and was buried in the city cemetery of Hulon (Israel).
